Dear OLS Choir Members,
I wanted to inform you all that the Mayor has officially lifted the restriction on the closure of churches, so Our Lady of Sorrows is working diligently to once again begin the process of reopening our church for public worship. However, there will undoubtedly be several adjustments to continue to mitigate the pandemic including limiting the number of parishioners that will be able to be at Mass at the same time. Due to the close proximity of choir members next to each other in the choir area, when we do begin opening our church for Mass again, we will NOT be having our choirs continue in their role as the music ministry. Choir practices are also indefinitely suspended. I do encourage you all, though, to sing your hearts out from the pews. Instead of our choirs leading the music, I intend to establish a cantor (soloist) ministry for each Mass. There may be a possibility of increasing the number of weekend Masses at Our Lady of Sorrows to accommodate the average number of parishioners we have every weekend while implementing social distancing protocols, so it will be helpful to have others lead the music at some of the weekend liturgies. If you are willing to serve as a cantor, please let me know so I can begin to form a roster and schedule. We continue to thank you for your prayers and support of Our Lady of Sorrows during these most challenging times. I pray you and your families have remained safe and well during the pandemic, and I most certainly look forward to worshiping and singing with you all in person once again. Aloha, Kainoa
